Unfortunately, you make a lot of sense :-(

At WaveMaker, we have been pushing the Dojo toolkit hard - with think with Dojo 1.0 and our open-source Visual Ajax Studio, Ajax is ready for its closeup, but given that you made your decision in the first half of '07, you definitely made the right choice.

@Robert,

We did look at OpenLaszlo, but at that time there was a lot of weirdness around it being privately held and reasonably neutral as relates to Adobe, then the decision to open source it, causing some strife between the Laszlo folks and Adobe. For those reasons, combined with some technical ones, I ruled it out.

Too bad you didn't give OpenLaszlo a whirl, as it makes Flash development easier than with Flex and can also generate DHTML/AJAX.

Now, you are locked into Flash as a runtime...so no iPhone support or ability to take advantage of other runtimes OpenLaszlo will offer down the road...perhaps including Silverlight when it matures.

[...] I started off yesterday by adding all of the blog roles of the most popular flex blogs to my rss reader, so basically finding all the best blogs by association (you know the bit were they link to the blogs they read). After that I began skimming though them looking for something to read, and found an article recommended by Ryan Stewart about Why blist chose Flex and Flash, which reminded me that I had signed up for the beta for blist and so proceeded to read the post.
